We spent a day at Happy Elephant Home in Chiang Mai. Happy Elephant is a sanctuary that rescues elephants from the abuses of the riding and entertainment industry. It's a small farm like setting up in the mountains of Northern Thailand. We started out the morning by cutting sugarcane and squash to feed the elephants. There are around 7 elephants that reside here. Only the momma and baby were corralled due to baby running off. The rest were roaming freely in their natural environment. This was one of my favorite days in Thailand and a highlight or our trip!
The uniforms were provided so that the elephants would more readily accept us and we wouldn't get our own clothes dirty.| Trick or Treat |
| A bag full of goodies ensures they will follow |
| Each elephant has a "keeper" called a Mahout. |
| With my obsession for elephants I was in heaven! |
